Eval. q. 4 TECHNOLOGY

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation
stages?

POST PRODUCTION

The main thing that I have taken leadership over has been editing. I have used iMovie to edit which is a new technology. Within editing I have used different techniques that I haven't before. For example the 'cross blur' editing effect. This is putting one piece of filming on top of another. This has been used in our filming where we see Daisys dreams flash before her at the end. I have also used slow-motion and reverse in order to underpin various affects.

Another effective use of editing that I have used is stop motion animation within the film. A took multiple images on a fast shutter speed and created a short scene where it shows our ident production name being written with a lipstick. Our production company is called 'Pucker up Productions.' To create this we took a variety of pictures on the Hue Camera as we built up the tower. iStop Motion is new technology and was a new and creative way to create our original ident. After making the video we edited the colour and added in writing on iMovie, along with music and sound effects.

RESEARCH

TWITTER - Through the access of Twitter, a social networking site, I have been able to research into other successful film distribution techniques and other general information quickly and free of charge. There are various people I follow such as Pete Frazer and Henry Jenkins.

YOUTUBE - YouTube has helped to to access information on other short films and radio trailers. Youtube allows me to clearly see the Codes and Conventions needed into making a short film.

BLOGGER - I have used blogger throughout, its the way I store all my work.

INSTAGRAM - Is an interesting visual which helped me to explore other film posters and what gets the target audience buzzing, through hashtags.

PINTREST - Allowed me to explore my target audiencePinterest is a versatile, easy-to-navigate online pin board tool that displays visuals and text linked to websites. I created Pinterest which helped us to collect together a series of images for the mise-en-scene and characters and clearly laid all the information out.

PLANNING

FACETIME -  FaceTimed my team member in order to ask her various  questions about our locations for filming and about dates in which blog posts were due. FaceTime is an extremely useful technology as Ellen is able to show me on the screen different blog posts relating to my question. FaceTime is spontaneous, free and easily accessible.

WHATSAPP - I have also used Whatsapp when communicating, this is extremely helpful and has allowed us to have a free chat. Whatsapp enabled us to collect together a series of information and images for our blog, and planning filming times, dates and things needed. This was an essential technology used as it helps us keep organised and discuss any concerns we may of had regarding the story line or issues regarding filming. We enjoy contacting each other easily and on one document of which solves any confusion and makes sure we is on the same page.

FACEBOOK Facebook enabled me to make contact with Ellen regarding the short film when we weren't in class, in the form of a  chat. It allowed me to make contact about future and recent filming, props ideas, filming dates, characters, shot list ideas etc. We also used Facebook regarding creating an engaged audience towards our short film. This was essential during the planning and construction stages of my film opening; making sure deadlines of filming scenes were met as we both had easy contact for debate. I also used it extensively to collect feedback on my short film, especially during the construction stages when I was filming scenes having to follow the call sheets and shot lists. I took photos of shoots and short video teaser clips (also posted on Instagram) gaining positive and negative feedback from users who have 'liked' our film opening page. Facebook is a collaborative tool that let us build a photo feed, video blogging and information bank.

CONSTRUCTION

CANNON CAMERA - This is the only camera we used for both the short film and film poster. It allowed us closeups, stills and distance shots.

iMOVIE - I spoke about iMovie in depth at the beginning of this blog post. I used it for editing the whole short film, it is a software found on Apple Macs.

PHOTOSHOP - I used Photoshop in order to edit my film poster, I talk more about this in my film poster analysis.

TRIPOD - I used a Tripod for steady filming, so it was as clear as possible.

EVALUATION

FUZEL -This is a free editing app used for my pictures. It adds diversity in displaying my pictures and is very easy to use.

SNAPCHAT - I snap chatted behind the scenes footage, and helped create a buzz.
